Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. It consists of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. In the rare cases they do, the 1st & 3rd line only rhyme.

So, I tried my hand at writing a Haiku and this is what I came up with:

It’s a bright starry night.
Make sure your loved one’s close by.
Sure feels like everything’ s alright.

Like they say you’re never too old to learn anything new right! Till later..cheers!

  1. Haiku is fun as is senyru. Both are 5-7-5 as you said but there are many exceptions. Haiku are supposed to only be about nature while senyru are human based. There is also the American Sentence which takes the 17 syllables into a single line. Keep writing. 🙂

loved one’s – yours sure feel close by
